Jam packed weekend and now this week as well! Fun things, though.
Rick and I went to Bristol for the Nascar race this past weekend. Love this place.Short track racing at it's best. We went Saturday and Sunday. I got sunburnt .......found out from my darling pharmacist DIL that the Cipro that I took for my UTI made me sun sensitive....oh yeah! I am having a fun time this week itching and peeling.
Rick e-mailed me just a while ago with the news he bought tickets to Martinsville this weekend. I give up. I love racing, but I really haven't recovered from last week! I'm no spring chicken any more....AND it is supposed to rain. Just dandy. You know, I was a Nascar fan for 10 years and Rick wasn't.....and I never went to ONE race. He got hooked and now he's gung-ho....and this will be our 6th race in two years. I've created a monster.
One good thing.....I have some time to work on my handwork on the road. I am cutting like a nut to get a bunch of pieces ready to work on Leatha's fan.....and I am making progress. This takes a longer time than rotary cutting, but it's the traditional way and I enjoy that.....and find it relaxing as well.
Here's a short clip of the sights and sounds of a restart at Bristol.

Random thoughts......
I had a very wonderful birthday. My sister and BIL came up and spent the weekend. My brother and SIL came up and spent the day Saturday, and all the kids and grandkids came on Saturday (except our Nancy who was busy being a pharmacist!!) We had a Heavenly Ham dinner with all the fixings and everyone seemed to enjoy the chow. Debbie brought a birthday cake because Aubree & Libby seemed to think we needed "cake, candles & singing" and "hats". So everyone sang "Happy Birthday, dear MeMe" (which was a little strange, to hear your siblings call you MeMe) but it was a great day.
Rick and I are going to Bristol for the Nascar races this weekend. Can't wait! Vrooooooom!
We will stay in Wytheville, VA and travel down to Bristol for the fun. We went to 4 races last year and hope to be able to go to a bunch this year as well. We'll see.
I have started cutting out the fabric for a new quilt. What, you say!!!! Aren't you supposed to be finishing UFO's, you say!!!!! Okay. I am weak. I want to have some handwork to take on the road this summer so that is my excuse and I'm sticking to it. One of the gals on another blogsite I am on showed this pattern from the 30's (this is not my block). It's called Leatha's Electric Fan. I just fell in love with it. So......I am busy cutting. It will have a blue circle in the center.
I am enjoying the onset of Spring. I have enjoyed going to sleep to the sound of the peeps (we sleep with the window open) and waking up to the sound of the birds. It gives a better start to the day, somehow. It is rainy today, but Rick told me we will have sunshine for the next few days. Ahhhhhhh.
Woke up to a UTI this morning. Ugh. Waiting for the dr. to phone to get a Rx. I brought this one on myself.....didn't drink enough water and too much Coke the last week.
OK......enough boring stuff for now. Back to cutting and marking.
Blessings,
Becky

Ecccchhhhhhh!
Not again!!!! Yep, again! I got the stomach virus Saturday night. I just hate that stuff....but I guess there aren't many that enjoy it, is there. But, I survived....slept around the clock mostly...and didn't wake up till 9:30 this morning! I am improved....can eat, can think of a zillion things that I want to do, but bottom line......I'm out of gas. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.
I am so ready for Spring!!!! This winter has been overly long and dreary to my notion. More sun and some daffodils, please. We live on a high elevation, so daffodils are late. Just dandy. But they will eventually get here.
I have received all the fabric I had to order more for a couple of projects, so I am chomping at the bit to get at it and get these ready to quilt. Two are going to be machine quilted and one hand quilted. I would like to get the hand quilted one ready in the next two weeks because we are going on a road trip to the Bristol NASCAR race and I like to take stitching with me. We'll see.
We are having a family dinner this weekend....most all of the extended family is able to come. It will be good to see everyone. Hopefully I will get pictures.
I think I feel a nap coming on so I will sign off for now.....
Blessings,
Becky

Working along.......
I've been busy, but nothing completed per se. I have the red, white & black borders on and ready to quilt. This is the update picture of it.
Then I started with the hodgepodge blocks I brought up from my mom's to finish for my brother. Of course, AGAIN I run out of fabric......so very close to having enough.....grrrrrrrr. So while I wait for the reorder to arrive, I'll show you an update on it. I chose a 30's print in a muted orange...for some reason orange just seemed to be in my head for this. This isn't an important fact except that I detest orange. Do you think it works?
The corner blocks I made from fabric with bones, etc on it to go with the orange dog sashing, and I plan to quilt the plate design in each of them. I am going to hand quilt this one so I will get it in the sandwich as soon as I finish the sashing.
Two of the grands are coming to spend the night and stay tomorrow, so all sewing for the next couple of days has ceased!!
Hope everyone has a great day!!
